Today we have a particularly exciting update about the Power of Mama…
And it’s all thanks to you!
Thanks to your amazing support, the Power of Mama has not only grown over the past couple of months, they have also learnt incredible new skills that will completely change how they monitor and fight fires.

Take a look at what these amazing women have recently achieved, all because you care:
Drone Training
Drones are one of the best ways to monitor fire-prone areas. They're safe, efficient, and reach places no one can get to on foot.
39 Power of Mama members were recently trained in drone operation. Five women also became qualified drone trainers themselves. Now, they can pass on their skills and keep building the team's knowledge for years to come.

Teams also received refresher training in firefighting and health and safety. They covered hazard identification, risk assessment, proper use of protective equipment, and emergency response.
And with El Niño on the way, the team completed special preparedness training too. They now better understand what prolonged drought means for their forests, and how to run community awareness campaigns to help prevent fires before they start.

Growing Teams
The Power of Mama has expanded into two new villages: Sungai Bakau and Sungai Pelang in West Kalimantan, Borneo.
That means 28 new members have joined the team; recruited and trained thanks to you. The team now stands at 123 dedicated women, protecting rainforests and wildlife across eight different villages.

And there's more! 14 experienced members were chosen to form a brand-new Village Forest Patrol Team in Pematang Gadung. This team's job goes beyond fire prevention. They'll monitor illegal logging, encroachment, hunting, and other threats to the forest. A first for the Power of Mama!
None of this happens without you, our amazing community of supporters.
Your kindness doesn't just keep these women out on patrol. It gives them the training, the tools, and the support to grow, to lead, and to take huge steps forward in the fight to save their rainforests.
Thank you!
