Putri is a remarkable young student in her first year at university. Thanks to the support of generous donors like you, she's studying Forestry with the help of an Orangutan Caring Scholarship!
Putri is thriving in her studies, and excited to keep learning. She’s already on the path to making a huge impact! She’s protecting the forests that so many people and wildlife depend on.
When asked about her first year of studies, Putri said that it’s been full of surprises and discoveries!
"At the beginning of the lecture, I thought we would only study forests or trees, but it turns out we also learn about climate, weather, and even cloud formations.”
Putri’s favourite subject so far is Sociology and Extension. She's been learning to connect with communities, especially those living near forests.
“We provide explanations on the importance of the community’s role in maintaining the sustainability of the forest ecosystem. Sharing information for the benefit of the environment is a great way to help protect it. It has had a very positive impact on me, as I have made progress in improving my social skills and interacting with a larger number of people.”
Putri now understands that forest conservation is about more than just protecting wildlife. It’s about taking care of the land, the trees and the people who live nearby. She’s excited to work closely with local communities to take positive action for their future, and the future of the forests.
As she looks ahead, Putri hopes to deepen her knowledge in conservation, and gain more hands-on experience. After graduation, she dreams of working in a conservation office. She hopes to use her knowledge to help protect forests and wildlife.
Thank you so much to the Reid Bruns Foundation for supporting Putri with this incredible scholarship.
“I will make the most of this opportunity and strive to create a positive impact for future generations”, says Putri.
